I do want to talk about On-Line therapy sessions and I hope this will answer people’s questions. Some people only want to do therapy sessions face to face and I totally get that, I love when I can see clients this way as well. However, for others, online works better for reasons such as logistics, time, convenience etc. Let me explain how it works, when a time is arranged for an online session, I then send out my secure online clinical link. There is no need to download any app, you just simply click on the link either on your computer or phone. Approximately 25% of my clinical sessions are online and are working out great, you get so caught up on the discussion you become oblivious to the fact you are online. I have had students take me for a virtual walk around their campus during our session. Clients with ADHD find walking and talking very beneficial, especially if they have been sitting at a desk for a while and need to move. I have also had clients who have scheduled in a session whilst abroad on holiday, as a means to help them work through their anxiety of being away. Then there are my young adolescent clients who like to get comfy in their room with a hot cuppa just before attending the online session with me. I have worked with couples online even when both partners are in different locations. Like I said, online doesn’t suit everyone but for those it does, it works and it works well.
